Concrete Classic

Last weekend the Concrete Classic was held at Penrith Whitewater Stadium.  It was a fun filled two day event with a ball race, freestyle comp, some boater cross races, a deckless “gift” race and the pirate relay in 2 person inflatable rafts where you must finish in another teams raft.  A huge thank you to Ben and Elise from WaveMonkey for organising the event, cooking the BBQs and the great prizes.  Thank you also to Entropy Gear, CUMEC Magazine and Outdoors First for supporting the event.  Some photos of the action below:

Another Trip to the Upper Snowy

Sam, Bo and Aidan did the upper snowy on Saturday, Sam wrote in with a few photos.

G’day Alex,

It’s an upper Snowy bonanza! I thought I’d send you a few photos from our Charlotte Pass – Guthega Pondage trip on Saturday. Plenty of stepping stones were out of the water at the put in (though the keen bean skier multitudes seemed to all prefer the shallow wading option) so it could have been higher (we missed the gauge reading), but it was still an awesome paddle. Bo Aidan and I had heaps of fun on the water and the snow (to then slide off into the water). And I was saved the bike shuttle at the end I’d been amping up for the whole day by some generous souls who drove Guthega to Canberra via our car at the top just for us. Would’ve been a long, uphill ride!

Cheers, Sam

Upper Snowy

Derek, Simon (Albury), Dale and myself did the section from Charlotte’s Pass down to Guthega Pondage on Sunday, water was a little low at 0.9m on the gauge just above the Pondage but it was still a great day out. Below are the pictures:

I will put a description up in the guide along with the Munyang – Island Bend and Finn Creek soon.

Edit: Derek took some photos too…
