Wetspot Watersports is organising some rolling sessions at the Civic Olympic Pool. They will run fortnightly from this Tuesday the 6th of April. The sessions offer the chance to get some practice in during winter, there will also be one on one rolling lessons available. Contact Wetspot for more info, 62391323.

Word was out that on the Sunday after the race a few groups were going to head out and do the Leven canyon. After waking up a little late on Sunday morning we rushed off to try and catch a group to paddle with. No signs of cars at the put in we thought we had missed our opertunity. After a trip down to the river and to the lookout we had given up hope of running it this year when screaming around the corner came the mighty Mitsubishi Magna containing the Peno clan, Sean and Lachie. Shortly afterwards we were seal launching into a gorge. The river was amazing, really high class III/IV/IV+ drops for a few kms before the two big drops, a 20 footer and 40 footer. The first drop pummled me after i came up on the wrong side of the boil and I wasn’t to keen to run the mandotory bigger drop, but in the end it worked out well. One of the best rivers I have done for sure. Anyone care to name a better river in Australia?

The Lea Race is held in october each year on the Lea near cradle mountain, an awesome III/IV creek. The run is made up of 3-4 decent sized drops all of which are amazingly clean. Nick and I ran the river several times leading up to the where I took some picys.
We ended up 12th out of 25 teams. A race run down the course takes roughly 12 minutes. A great weekend, highly recomended.

I recently went down to Tasmania with Nick to attend the Lea Race. We spent a week down there paddling, the first couple of days were spent on the Picton River, a great play run an hour or so from hobart.
