Wollondilly Sat
« on: August 29, 2014, 10:00:34 AM »
Looking for a crew to do the Wollondilly on Sat.  Once going to run it today but one of the crew got sick.  Need to be a solid grade 4 paddler.  Full day.  Let me know if you are keen.  Warren and I may even leave v early a set the shuttle.  Who is in? ;D  BJ can you shift work to Sun? What about you Tom Robb? Jimmy? Mick (I know you are sick).

Keen, but keener for Sunday since hockey is on a little bit later.  I reckon it will still be a good level by then (>1.2)

Doing the shorter run. Planning a very early start.  Warren needs to be back in Canberra for a dinner.

Sounds optimistic.  Anyone in the crew done it before?  I've heard access at Nandi Rd can be touch and go with the land owner.

Alex.  Warren paddled it some time ago.  Any contact details for the land owner?

I'll go Saturday if Sunday isn't an option.  I think Saturday will have better water levels, but Sunday will probably be okay too.  I'm hoping to be back by 5pm but I realise that's very optimistic and I'll wear it if I have to miss the hockey.

I'm afraid not, maybe just pack a slab and hope for the best.  I'm pretty interested but currently on call so I would need to see if someone can swap with me.

Saturday will be at least 1.4ish and Sunday will be 1.2ish (bearing in mind that often rivers seem to drop a little bit slower than exponential so if anything, the levels will be slightly above what I'm saying here).

I last did it in 98, too long ago for property owner details. Yes it is Nandi Rd, intersection with Ditley Fire Trail. Will have to sweet talk are way through the property. Last time I did it we left the cars off the property on public road and walked a short distance across the property to the river. Should do the same to keep owner on side this time.

Getting back to Canberra by 5pm is not achievable. Last time we left Canberra at 5am, on water at 10 after the car shuttle, off water 3.30pm, back in Canberra just before 8pm. A long day but we'll worth it.

Height is now 1.57m at 2pm. When it was at the same height last week it took 48hrs to drop to the recommended minimum 1.1m. Tomorrow is looking good, Sunday not so sure just yet.

OK looking at Sat (Neither Warren or I can do Sun and I suggest Dan is also likely out - father's Day)

At this stage I have Warren, Dan, BJ and Griff - Confirmed.

Alex, Nick and Simone (Sydney) likely.

Ok here is the plan.

Simon will RV with Warren and I at River Island Retreat at 0730. We will leave two cars there and move to the put in RV.

For BJ, Duanne and Nick (Yet to confirm that you are in). Meet at McDonalds Maura park at 0615.  Depart at 0630 in BJ's truck and meet us at the RV by 0830.  RV location is the convenience store at 152 Tugalong Rd Canyonleigh 2577.

We expect to be on the water at 0900 - 0915.  Once off Simon will head home direct and remainder will travel back to the put in.

Alex not sure if you are paddling.  If so you can either meet at Island River Retreat at 0730 and leave your car there or the  put in RV detailed above.

Majura Macca's is a bit out of the way, so BJ, Nick and I will RV at Nick's place (Owen Cr, Lyneham) at 6.15. All same otherwise.
