General Paddling Talk / Shoalhaven River Gorge Takeout - Old Timberlite

We've been putting a cable up on the shoalie at Old Timberlite for the purpose of getting boats out of the gorge. Here's a video of our latest weekend down there.

General Paddling Talk / Redrocks raft trip this weekend

I'm going to take a raft down redrocks over the weekend. If there are any punters who'd like to jump in or whitewater kayakers who'd like to switch it up for a day just let me know.
Also keen to have kayakers along for safety.
I have most of the weekend free at the moment so expressions of interest are open!

General Paddling Talk / Queanbeyan river Thursday 11th

Hi friends.

I'm Running Queanbeyan river from cascades down tomorrow arvo. Needs to be 3pm sharp rendezvous to ensure we make it back to the car in time, for googong gates are locked at 6:00pm.
Also requires a pretty swift paddle out on the flat water.

Meet at 137 barracks flat rd Karabar at 3:00pm.

A bunch of canberra paddlers and I paddled the Gwydir river over the last few days and had an absolute blast.

Alex, could we please have the gauge for the Gwydir added to the site?

It is known that water is released annually from late November until March, however I've also known it to be up at other random times in the year.

Nick, Griff and I hit up the Queanbeyan River this arvo.
Level 0.84
Paddle time 2.5 hours
The trip report on Canberra Canoe Club was pretty accurate save for a few trees which apparently used to be there.
We'll be looking into a different take out for the next trip. It was a fair stretch of flatwater to reach Queanbeyan, although fairly scenic.

Cascades - The bottom drop known as "The Black Hole"

There are multiple lines on first rapid after cascades - far right is this boof from a pretty shallow pool






River left is a grade 4 weave around a piton rock
