Sounds good, happy to wing it last minute as the missus is away

I'm keen for a paddle this weekend if anyone is heading out? Unfit and rusty so prefer something not too hard... the shoaly gorge walkout hasn't faded from my memory yet.

Simon.

General Paddling Talk / Spray decks?
« on: April 22, 2015, 09:34:16 AM »

Finally ditched the Necky Blunt and bought a Pyranha Burn, and now need a new deck. Read reports that the funny Burn cockpit shape doesn't make for an easy fit, with people recommending rand skirts instead of bungey. Anyone use/d one? Don't want the deck popping, but want something easy enough to put on and that I can use on the Dagger Agent as well. At the moment I'm tossing up between an IR Lucky Charm, Kling-on, or just getting another EW deck. Shouldn't have been coaxed into selling the old one so easily.

I'm in if the shorter run can be pulled off. Getting too old for too much cowabunga in one day

Sounding like Shoalhaven Gorge is the only real option this weekend. Only done the section to the power lines before, but keen for the gorge. How nasty is the walk out at the end??  Sat or Sun doesn't matter much to me.

One day paddle suits me better this weekend anyway, but def free all of next weekend.

If this weekend ends up no good, there's a good chance next weekend will be possible. Plenty of rain forecast in the vicinity for next Tuesday / Wednesday. Can't see as far out as Thursday with this imagery yet.

Will check it out later and give you a shout tonight

I'd possibly be up for that. Just read the following which would certainly rule it out as being a one dayer for me:

Basic facts:
42.5km
12km pretty flat at the start
several granite gorges with lots of grade V
2 rapids we portaged
6 hours with minimal scouting and solid pace the whole way
1 perfect 6m waterfall
Lots of long open grade 3 rapids with minimal flat water after the first 12km
Shuttle Bunny highly recommended.

Check out the adventurepro thread here, not sure what other info there is on the net about the run:

General Paddling Talk / Saturday paddle- Shoaly / Winge / Wollondilly?
« on: August 21, 2014, 12:53:31 PM »

These rivers caught plenty of water the other day, assume they'll all hold till the weekend. Anyone up for either the Shoalhaven or Wingecaribee? Would also be interested in a late start paddle on the Shoaly on Sunday.

I've never paddled the Wollondilly but its definitely on my list. Would need to be a early start as from I hear it is a very long day / 2 day trip.

What are people's thoughts around big Tuesday? I  can't really justify a whole week off, not sure what the best days for leave would be. Tuesday / Wednesday?

Thanks Griff and Nick. I think I'll sit tight for now and see what happens with the rain. Shame I missed last weekend, had some pre-committed plans that ended up being rather shite. Should've known...

Thanks for all the info on e-bikes by the way Nick. Still mulling over it... def way more to consider than I first thought

Will anything still be worth paddling this weekend and is anyone keen on heading out? Keen to get out of Sydney for a change.

You should really buy an Agent 6.2. Collecting too much dust at mine...

If you want a 2nd hand one my mate in Canberra is probably keen to offload a Prowler. Excellent fishing kayak for lakes or ocean.

Is the Digbee worth a drive from Sydney?

Might be up for a bounce down the shoalhaven Sunday if its not too early and I'm not too hungover.
